About Us

Who we are

Jacksons has been a family run business for over 75 years and has passed through 3 generations, developing and growing along the way. The family culture in the business has always been evident and in 2022, the Directors of Jacksons carried out the transfer of ownership of the company to their loyal and committed employees, leaving a positive legacy. An Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) allows the staff of Jacksons to benefit from the long-term success of the business, delivered by their hard work and commitment.

Previous owner, Alan Jackson believes,

“The sale allows the traditions and ethos of the company to forge ahead in a framework that everyone can continue to flourish in. Jacksons is a mature company and has successfully re-grouped from the pressures of the pandemic to re-establish its positions as the key regional distributor for London and the Southeast following 2 years of Covid. We believe the EOT is the perfect way forward. It was clear to us that the best people to take the business forward and protect the culture and values we have built over the last 75 years are you, its employees and we have sold the business to you in the trust structure.”

New Managing Director, Phil Mitchell, has joined Jacksons following a decade in the hospitality industry with Young & Co’s Brewery and St Austell Brewery.

“The EOT is a great way to reward the staff for many years of work and is typical of the way Jackson’s operate. I was a customer of Jackson’s for many years, and I was always impressed with their care and support they gave me, ensuring they delivered the best possible experience to me as a customer. I can see this same ethos with the way they treat their teams through the EOT.

An EOT is increasingly being identified as a highly effective way to provide the ultimate reward for loyal, long-term employees with John Lewis being the highest profile EOT business I know. It enables staff to become stakeholders and company owners and can be a catalyst for further business success. In my time at Jackson’s so far, I can already see the increased engagement and look forward to many years of successful trading”.

Equally important are the customers of Jacksons and the announcement of the Employee Owner Trust has been well received in the trade. The change in ownership will only bring positive change, ensure continuity and commitment, and will ultimately lead to an ever-improving service which is great news for all!
